Are you studying towards a professional qualification and require a student placement as part of your studies or a newly qualified graduate?Cheshire West and Chester Public Protection Service are offering an exciting placement opportunity within our multifunctional Regulatory Services team.
Comprising of Trading Standards, Environmental Health, Licensing and Health and Safety professionals, the team carries out a wide range of enforcement and compliance functions to protect residents and support legitimate businesses across the borough.
Cheshire West and Chester is a vibrant place to work, offering a mix of rural and urban locations with offices situated across the borough including the City of Chester, with its cultural heritage of the city walls, famous rows and roman amphitheatre, to the modern café culture and top tourist attraction of Chester Zoo.
The role of Assistant Regulatory Services Officer sits within our busy Triage team and offers an eye-opening insight into the world of Regulatory Services.
You will be responsible for assessing and triaging enquires across a range of regulatory areas, carrying out initial investigation, undertaking business compliance visits and assisting officers in various professional functions as needed.
You will gain valuable experience of the professional fields that make up our service and the different career paths that are available to explore.
You will increase knowledge across key enforcement functions, learn about the corporate and political make up of our local authority and as part of a forward-thinking service, will play a part in making a real difference to the local community.

A driving licence is essential for this role as you may be required to work from a range of work locations across the borough, with a flexible working approach there are opportunities to work from home depending on the needs of the service.
Completion of the placement can lead to the offer of further professional training and future career opportunities, some of our past student placements have successfully gone on to gain roles within our organisation.
