Temporary for one year initially
Education Five is seeking to appoint an Education Welfare Officer on a part time basis.


Applicants will ideally have previous experience as an Education Welfare Officer/ Attendance Officer/ Parent Support Adviser and must be flexible to the changing requirements of the schools they will be working with.

You will be expected to work independently across schools supporting them to improve and maintain good levels of school attendance and assisting in their safeguarding duty to families and children.

Based in the north east since 2017 Education Five has provided independent education welfare services to multi academy trusts, local authority maintained schools, academies and specialist alternative provision across six local authority areas.


Job description

Education Five, Education Welfare Consultant

Job purpose:


To improve school attendance through a range of support and challenge interventions working with schools, parents/carers, children and other agencies.

To analyse and interpret data to ensure that intervention is evidenced based and that outcomes are evaluated.


Main duties and responsibilities:


  • To provide consultancy advice and support to schools in relation to school attendance and education welfare matters.
  • To provide advice to schools on effective attendance tracking systems to monitor attendance and punctuality and where necessary create and main these systems for schools.
  • Identify vulnerable groups of children or families that require early intervention support to improve school attendance or punctuality.
  • Undertake casework in line with Education Five Ltd procedures and those of the local authority providing families with support and challenge to improve school attendance.
  • Work with families and schools to reduce barriers to school attendance, referring to other agencies where necessary.
  • Arrange, attend and contribute to multi agencies meetings regarding children on roll of schools working with Education Five Ltd.
  • Liaise with other statutory and non-statutory agencies to provide effective and appropriate support to the child/ family.
  • Keep accurate recording and file information regarding families and/or children that require Education Welfare Consultancy support.
  • Keep all records confidential and secure adhering to the consultancy agreement in place with each school and to GDPR.
  • Prepare concise reports for meetings, court reports and witness statements and all associated legal paperwork in line with the local authority procedures.
  • Take part in training and professional development including professional supervision.
  • Be responsible for requesting own professional development and keeping up to date with legislation and government guidance changes.
  • Maintain a work diary, submitting a time sheet of hours and returning it as required
  • Due to the nature of the post a great deal of flexibility is required to cover the changing demands and needs of each individual school. Therefore, some duties may not be covered specifically within this job description but will fall into general duties of this post.

Job Types:
Part-time, Temp to perm

Contract length: 12 months

Part-time hours: 15 per week


Salary:
From £11,700.00 per year
