We are currently looking for new
Payroll Administrator to join our People & Payroll team at Cambridge Education Group.


The role is on a full-time, permanent basis with the location in Cambridge, United Kingdom. We operate on a hybrid work pattern where 3 days per week can be worked from home.

Collaborating closely with the Group Payroll Manager and cross-functional teams, you will facilitate accurate, compliant and timely salary payments across our global workforce.

The post holder will report to the Group Payroll Manager and collaborate closely with People Team colleagues to facilitate accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing and salary payments across our global workforce.

They will be expected to undertake a variety of payroll, benefit, and administrative duties both independently and under supervision for the group.


In this dynamic role, you'll manage a range of responsibilities, from overseeing onboarding processes for new hires and accurately processing payroll data, to addressing payroll queries and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Key responsibilities as a Payroll Administrator:

  • Work with the Group Payroll Manager to ensure CEG employees are paid accurately and on time using payroll systems these include iTrent (UK & Ireland), Nmbrs (Netherlands) & iMGR (Hong Kong).
  • Work with the Group Payroll Manager to ensure all payroll processes and data are sent to our global payroll bureaus for processing within agreed time table to ensure payment (e.g France, Russia, China & Dubai).
  • Conduct the onboarding of new employees to their relevant payrolls ensuring all data is provided and initial payslips are accurate
  • Monitor changes within the HRIS system (iTrent) to ensure changes are reflected accurately in the payrolls in accordance with strict deadlines
  • Update absence plans and records to ensure the HRIS system (iTrent) ensure changes are reflected accurately in the payrolls in accordance with strict deadlines
  • Support the wider team with administration of the People Team ticketing system, focusing on ensuring payroll queries raised are dealt with in a timely manner and allocating or escalating to the Group Payroll Manager or People Team colleagues as required

Key skills and experience we will be looking for:

  • Working as part of a team
  • Experience dealing with calculations
  • Payroll system experience (we use iTrent) would be an advantage but is not essential
  • Working with multisite, global payrolls would be an advantage but is not essential
  • Good IT skills; including ability to use Microsoft Office packages eg Word and Outlook
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Excellent numeracy skills with an ability to complete manual calculations when required
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • High level of attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional time management & organisational skills, has the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
  • Ability to work to very strict and tight deadlines
  • Confidentiality
