from defining an ownable and differentiated sustainability strategy, rooted in material issues and integrated within brand and business strategy; to communicating sustainability progress to all stakeholders, both internally through inspiring employees, and externally through the creation of impactful reporting, campaigns, film, and digital.

We're looking for a Sustainability Consultant to join our growing Stakeholder Communications team here at Emperor.

The team brings together strategic thinkers and industry experts with extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of sustainability and corporate communications.

We use our expertise to advise clients, working closely with them to understand their business challenges, develop impactful solutions that help them stand out from the crowd and deliver memorable communications and reporting that resonate with diverse stakeholder audiences.

Through collaboration and analysis, we keep up-to-date with best practice, the latest developments in disclosure, and share our insights and guidance with clients and colleagues.


Purpose

The role of the Sustainability Consultant is fourfold:


  • Support clients in their sustainability reporting & communications
  • Emperor prides itself on its client service and it is a key reason why clients choose to work with us. You will provide ongoing expertise and guidance for clients, to help them identify appropriate content, metrics and case studies that demonstrate their approach to sustainability
  • including strategy, performance, and governance
  • and provide creative and pragmatic ideas to help them communicate in a clear, credible and engaging way. You will work with clients to plan and progress their sustainability reporting ambitions, helping them to navigate existing and upcoming regulations including ISSB and CSRD, and creating integrated annual reports, sustainability reports, as well as other supplements.

Facilitate & lead materiality assessments to inform sustainability strategy development:

  • Facilitate the creation of single and double materiality assessments, to lay the foundations for a strong and regulation-compliant sustainability strategy for clients. With this foundation, you will support in the development of sustainability strategies and frameworks for clients across numerous industries and geographies.

Research & staying on the pulse of sustainability best practice - continuously scanning best practice to keep ahead of current and emerging trends and issues, regulations, market practices and standards in the sustainability space. Identifying the implications for clients and providing insights across a range of sectors. You will contribute to Emperor's thought leadership programme, leading and collating research and sharing your findings through events, publications and articles for Emperor's website.

Business development
  • You will help present Emperor's sustainability offer to existing and new clients, pitching for and winning new business that meets Emperor's ambitious growth plans in the sustainability space. Key to the success of this will be your ability to build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders including consultants, designers, client partners and account managers, where you will work collectively to develop existing client accounts and new business relationships through the provision of sustainability strategy and communications.

Desirable experience

  • 23 years' work experience in sustainability reporting within a consultancy, agency, and/or large corporation
  • Proven ability and experience conducting (and ideally leading) materiality assessments (ideally double materiality)
  • A proven researcher with the ability to synthesize significant volumes of information into key insights to inform strategy and communications development
  • Experience and knowledge of the corporate and sustainability communications landscape, including trends, regulation and best practice including knowledge of upcoming regulations such as ISSB and CSRD
  • Proven ability to quickly grasp key client information including sustainability strategy, business model and strategy, product and service offering, and understand issues relating to products, technologies, primary competition and general issues facing
