Job Summary:

Responsibilities:


Vendor Management:

  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery performance.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key vendors, negotiating terms and agreements to ensure optimal pricing and favourable contract terms.

Technical Specification Compliance:

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand and interpret technical specifications for fasteners.
  • Ensure that all purchased fasteners meet required industry standards and specifications.

Market Research:

  • Stay informed about market trends, pricing, and new product developments in the fastener industry.
  • Conduct regular market analysis to identify potential cost savings and efficiency improvements.

Cost Management:

  • Develop and implement cost reduction strategies while maintaining or improving product quality.
  • Monitor and analyse supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost savings.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with crossfunctional teams, including engineering, production, sales and quality to understand project requirements and coordinate procurement activities accordingly.

Order Management:

  • Oversee the entire procurement process, from order placement to delivery, to ensure timely and accurate fulfilment of orders.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and delivery schedules.

Qualifications:
Essential

  • Proven experience as a Technical Buyer in the industrial/engineering industry or a related field.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Detailoriented with excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- 'Can do' attitude as duties may expand out of the purchasing area

  • Good working knowledge of MS Office
  • Own transport (due to office location)
Advantageous but not essential

  • CIPS Qualification
  • Familiarity with Sage 50.
  • Indepth knowledge of fastener technical specifications, industry standards, and materials.
