Post Summary


To be a valued member of the finance team by ensuring Thorns Collegiate Academy are compliant with current financial regulations and guidance, by providing financial management support to include purchase and sales ledger oversight, cash and bank management, assistance with the preparation of all required reports & returns, payroll monitoring, monitoring of funding and preparing information to enable the accounts team to prepare the statutory accounts and provision of information for internal and external auditors.


Key elements of the role:

Budget Management, Cash & Bank, Preparation of Reports & Returns, Closure of accounts and Funding & Monitoring


Responsibilities:


  • To be the first point of contact for queries with budget and monitoring for the Principal and other budget holders within the Academy
  • To be responsible for the bank reconciliation and cash book
  • To be responsible for the maintenance of the financial systems to include purchase and sale ledger, the entering of income, petty cash, cash imprests, credit cards, coding of all transactions and any monthly and year end accounting adjustments
  • To be responsible for the completion of the contract and lease file and the pecuniary interest and gift and hospitality register for the academy
  • To be responsible for the completion of the month end accounts to include the completion of a month end template and reconciliation of the trip's ledger
  • To be responsible for monthly payroll monitoring and checking, including the and submittal of staff claim forms and expenses
  • To be responsible for the submittal of all relevant information to the central finance team about capital transactions
  • To provide daily management support to the finance assistant
  • To assist with the preparation of information for the annual budget and annual year end audit
  • To assist with the completion of information for any other relevant returns including IR35


Such other duties as may be appropriate to achieve the objectives of the post or to assist the Academy in the fulfilment of its objectives commensurate with the post holder's salary grade, abilities, and aptitudes.
