A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join a well-established Law Firm based on the outskirts of Ellesmere port near Chester set in an idyllic business park.

My clients firm specialises in Personal Injury, Road Traffic Accidents, Credit Hire, Housing disrepair and EL/PL. They are seeking a diligent, confident, self-motivated, and experienced person to fill the role of
Costs Lawyer / Draftsman.


Job Specification.
To prepare bill of costs for detailed assessment

Prepare cost claims for submission to the opposing solicitor and the courts

Undertake negotiations re costs issues

To prepare Statement of Costs for summary assessment as well as prepare costs budgets

To represent the Claimant at hearings for Assessment of costs or Costs budget hearings

To assist in drafting High Costs Case Plans for submission to the Court/Third Party Representatives etc. To liaise and advise with fee earners and support staff in relation to any costs related query

Drafting estimates of costs to accompany Allocation Questionnaires and Pre Trial Checklists Drafting statements of costs (N260's)for summary assessment

Draft Notices of Commencement to serve bills of costs on paying parties

Drafting points of dispute and replies to points of dispute

Attending detailed assessment hearings


Experience Required:


  • Minimum of 35 years' experience of Cost Draftsman experience
  • Experience in drafting bills of costs for Personal Injury, Credit Hire & Housing Disrepair
  • Able to demonstrate strong administrative and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills including oral and written presentation skills
