Contracts/Commercial Assistant Vacancy


The role will involve being accountable for supporting management and will work as part of a functional team to provide Commercial services and support to meet the operational needs of line management within a defined business unit functional area or Project as required by the Business.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with commercial contract management of various projects.
  • Assist in all required activities under the contract where commercial contract management is required from a Cammell Laird perspective.
  • Assist with engagement and involvement in all internal and external stakeholders to ensure Cammell Laird's contractual delivery obligations including but not limited to Project Directors / Finance / Estimating / Production / Supply Chain / Planning.
  • Maintain registers for various aspects of the commercial function, where necessary for each specific projects.
  • Liaise with Cammell Laird internal functions to ensure deliverables are met.
  • Assist in early warning notices for any delay to the program and maintain registers to record.
  • Assist in compiling required business cases for any additional scopes of work.
  • Attend and take actions where necessary at weekly and monthly meetings when required.
  • Respond to contract correspondence.
  • Using various software to prepare documentation and reporting to assist projects for management and meetings.
  • Provide commercial support and contract administration to various projects.
  • Forming and maintaining good working relationships with internal functions and external customers.
  • Assist in negotiation of proposals with potential customers and ensuring that this results in acceptable business agreements and contracts.
  • Ability to follow up activities to ensure inputs from others are received and progressed to conclusion.
  • Commitment to meet deadlines and targets.

  • Confident with working with high volume of data and present in a logical manner.
  • Organisational skills essential to maintain processes, reports, and registers.
  • Excellent Microsoft Skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word Natural ability to visually represent data.
  • Basic commercial awareness with the ability to build strong meaningful relationships at all levels.
  • Business Studies/Commercial based qualification or a willingness to work towards.
  • Defence/Maritime experience desirable but not essential.
  • Experience in a similar role would be advantageous.

£20,000.00-£25,000.00 per year
