Do you enjoy a challenge and like working in a busy environment? We are looking for a full time Assistant Medical Secretary to work within our Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department in the Women's and Children's Directorate.

We need someone who enjoys a challenge and is used to working in a busy environment. You must be able to work on your own initiative and have excellent prioritisation, organisational and interpersonal skills.

Experience of audio typing is essential and use of Microsoft Office packages is desirable.

The post holder will be expected to have good communication skills and be able to liaise effectively and efficiently with colleagues, professionals and patients.

The post holder will also be expected to cover for Medical Secretaries from time to time as part of the role.


The purpose of this job is to provide secretarial support to the Specialty Team in Obstetrics and Gynaecology by typing letters and reports, dealing with telephone queries and ensuring appropriate diagnostic investigations are arranged; working on your own initiative using knowledge, skills and experience to manage and prioritise workload independently in accordance with operational standards and protocols.
