What will you be doing?
The primary purpose of the role is:
- To develop and lead the IMA as a relatively new organisation. This is a high-profile role. The CEO represents the IMA at the highest levels of government and will work effectively with an unusually broad range of stakeholders.
- The CEO will provide inspirational leadership to create a wellrun and respected organisation that instils confidence in staff and external stakeholders. The CEO will work to build high performing teams, maximising capability and maintaining an inclusive culture.
- The CEO will be a member of the IMA Board, which sets the overall organisational vision and strategy, to ensure that the organisational delivers optimally.
- The CEO will lead the IMA Executive Team to deliver that vision and strategy and will ensure that the organisation operates to high standards and makes independent, evidencebased and wise decisions
Who are we looking for?
Someone who has:
- Success as a senior executive in a similarly complex organisation, having had direct involvement in leading the development, evolution and delivery of strategy, and responsibility for operational effectiveness
- Experience of successfully articulating a vision, developing and communicating a strong organisational and cultural identity with a track record of managing, developing and motivating the organisation's people and the ability to develop a culture of high performance
- A track record of building credibility and strong relationships with a broad and diverse range of stakeholders in a complex sector
- Experience of working effectively with a nonexecutive Board
- Commercially aware and financially astute, with a track record of budget, resource and business management and the ability to act as Accounting Officer
- Proven experience of operating in a public sector context and the ability to handle complex issues with high level audiences, including with government able to defend IMA decisions (including enforcement decisions) against government and public challenge.
- Demonstrated success of effectively leading and promoting continuous improvement and strategic change.
- The ability to understand complex policy and legislation within a regulatory context, specifically public and EU law
