Following changes to our structure we now have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a
Senior Development Manager This opportunity is based in our East Region covering Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, West Sussex and the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole conurbation and working from our Head Office in Basingstoke.

The role will include a mix of on-site visits, home and office-based working.


What you'll be doing


Working with the Head of New Business your role is to identify new Section 106, Partnership and Package Deal opportunities across our East region to feed into our development Pipeline.

As the Senior Development Manager in the team you will take the lead on negotiating the more complex projects.

In addition, you will use your knowledge to mentor, coach and develop other Development management colleagues, ensuring they able to grow in theirrole and capable of negotiating more complex development schemes independently.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Liaising with Developer, Contractors and Agents to identify suitable opportunities for development across the region.
  • Establishing financial appraisals for schemes and preparing reports for committee seeking approval to proceed with schemes.
  • Selecting and appointing Consultants and managing project teams to progress schemes to contract
  • Negotiating sound contracts, identifying and managing risk to protect the business position
  • Working with stakeholder to shape schemes to meet the organisation aspirations
  • Mentor, coach and develop other Development Team Members to aid their understanding of ever more complex schemes

What we need from you
You'll need to demonstrate previous experience in a similar role from the housing development or property / construction sectors.


You'll have:

  • A track record of taking projects from concept to acquisition, appointing and managing consultant teams to secure new opportunities.
  • Experience of mentoring and coaching other development team members.
  • A demonstrable record of partnership working, influencing and persuading
  • A passion for delivering homes that meet the aspirations of our Homes and Place Strategy
  • The ability to communicate and negotiate effectively both with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring longevity in partnerships
  • Experience of having a strong network of key development contacts and the ability to nurture and expand relationships to source new opportunities
  • A good understanding of the social housing sector and an appreciation of the challenges faced in the delivery of affordable housing
  • Experience of successfully leading project teams, to deliver high quality homes within programme and budget


There will be a requirement to travel from time to time in this role so you should have a full UK licence and access to your own transport.
