The broad educational aims of the programme are:
To introduce students to a broad range of processes in making. To ascertain the most suitable approach for each student's needs though experimentation and analysis.

To test this out by students exhibiting their work to develop work to a professional and ground-breaking standard, recognising the benefits sought from exhibition-making and aspect of curatorial practice.

There are also opportunities for all students to work with prominent arts organisations (Tate Liverpool, Liverpool Biennial, The Bluecoat) and the programme encourages experimental and creative and curatorial practice.

The programme is committed to a civic agenda and aims to ensure that all students are empowered to authentically explore their interests and identities.

The School has been consistently ranked in the UK top ten for art and design in the Complete University Guide University and Guardian League Tables.
