Job Description:


This position will be based in Aberdeen, UK (or Tananger, Norway).


The position will direct and perform the accounting and financial activities for the EAFC GeoMarket while adhering to all federal, state, Company, and accounting principles.

The position is required to ensure that the operations under his/her group understand internal control requirements and have installed and are monitoring to ensure controls are in place and operating effectively.

The Senior Geo-Market Controller is considered a key member of the management team, supporting the GeoMarket VP's & General Manager's organization in driving the business forward.

He or She will have responsibility for the overall financial performance of the region of business assigned under this role.


Essential Functions:


  • Provide strategic oversight and financial direction to multiple locations to include, but not limited to, journal entries, cash management, local taxation, inventory, receivables/payables, monthend accruals, financial reporting, sales analysis, and organic and inorganic opportunities.
  • Understand and assist in reconciliation of key differences between local accounting and US GAAP.
  • Review and approve monthly account reconciliations.
  • Responsible for coordination of customer payments, debt collection, and cash flows from the field locations to corporate cash requirements.
  • Ensures the operation and effectiveness of key process (operational and financial) controls through regular review and periodic selfchecks.
  • Work closely with the operations on ensuring business objectives and initiatives are met.
  • Establish, or recommend to management, major financial objectives and policies for the GeoMarket.
  • Prepare and present reports which summarize and forecast GeoMarket's business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
  • Oversee the adequacy of financial systems.
  • Advise management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions.
  • Primary contact during audits and responsible for activity during internal and external audit.
  • Prepares reports required by local statutory and regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain regular communication with Finance Director & Corporate Controller about relevant activities.
  • Follow all Company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that personal behaviours and work practices are in line with Company safety standards.
  • Responsible for safety of self and others in the vicinity to include, but not limited to, employees, vendors and guests.
  • Provide visible leadership engagement, be aware of housekeeping, and take additional safety precautions to ensure no one is put at risk.
  • Do not take short cuts or unnecessary risks and actively work with others to ensure they take due care and do not put themselves or others at risk.
  • Ensure all incidents are reported and appropriately investigated in accordance with Company procedure.
  • As needed, seek advice from HSE representative.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or International Business is required.
  • Should have at least 12 years of work experience to include a strong knowledge of international accounting practices.
  • CPA certification or equivalent international certification is preferred.
  • Must have strong knowledge of financial reporting, internal controls, US GAAP, and other applicable international reporting guidance (i.e. IFRS).
  • Must have excellent PC skills to include all MS Office products with an extensive knowledge in accounting technical skills.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal English communication skills and be able to present oneself in a professional manner.
  • Must be detailed, organized, and taskoriented to manage rapid growth and increasing demand for information and results.
