Head of Project Controls and Planning


Location:

Salary:
Up to £75,000 depending on skills and experience

What you'll be doing:
  • Leading the respective planning teams to deliver and maintain the Type 26 8 ship L2 programme
  • Heading the programme controls team to develop and maintain the programme controls and metrics, including alignment of P6, material forecast and EAC for both programmes
  • Managing the risk management team, to maintain the risk and opportunity registers, actively pursue programme opportunities and developing the combat system SRA
  • Driving the Combat System Change Team, ensuring change is effectively integration into the programme
  • Influencing and collaborating with other Type 26 Planning/Project Controls Teams to maintain the integrated plan and EAC
  • Working with the business functions to develop staff, and ensuring that the teams are resourced with experienced and capable staff

Your skills and experiences:


Essential:


  • Formal APM qualification or equivalent
  • Prior experience managing specialist multidiscipline teams and interfacing with a wide range of providers and customers
  • In depth understanding of PM toolsets; Primavera P6, Primavera Risk Analyser, MS Project, and SAP
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, ability to form effective relationships
  • Previously held a leadership role within planning and controls

Desirable:


  • Experience in the defence industry
  • Exposure to complex engineering or defence projects

The Planning and Project Controls Team:

This is an exciting opportunity for you to be part of the senior leadership team and to head up the planning and controls for the Type 26 programme.

You will have a lot of influence in this role and would report directly into the Type 26 Combat System Delivery Director.

Type 26 is a large programme within BAE Systems that includes the build and delivery of 8 Naval Ships across the UK.

This role will allow you to network, and gain could exposure within a varied role, and there will also be UK travel involved in the role.
