Church & Dwight UK Ltd have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Packaging Technologist to join our Research and Development (R&D) team based at our R&D facility in Folkestone, Kent.


The Junior Packaging Technologist works closely with the Product team with responsibility for Packaging Development, Regulatory and Legislative practices and Quality improvement.


Key responsibilities include:
Manage project documentation Develop and execute package testing plans Source technical drawings / die lines Develop suitable consumer and transit packaging including display cartons, shelf ready packs, corrugated containers, and pallet layouts Manage modifications to existing product packaging Interface with all relevant departments to effectively manage projects Identify resource / prioritisation issues and report to Packaging Technologist Offer factory support for pack design related engineering issues Development of consumer and transit packaging using external suppliers Implement transport tests to assure outer packaging and pallet designs are sufficient to deliver high quality product to customers Harmonise pack designs to improve manufacturing efficiency Issue and maintain packaging specifications as well as reports on outcome of industrial line trials Provide relevant information for the assembly of technical dossiers and supplier specifications Keep up to date with sustainability requirements and integrate into packaging development
Regulatory/Legal:

Keep up to date and be knowledgeable of regulatory and legislative activity as it pertains to packaging and recycling Assure that all regulatory and legal considerations are applied to all assigned projects Quality Improvement:
  • Assist with quality investigations regarding pack design
Support quality improvement initiatives and assistance with resolution of quality issues related to product manufacture and packaging Business Acumen: Understand cost targets into all new pack designs and be aware of gross margin impacts Understand business and line efficiency impacts of all new designs Have knowledge of the development of various types of packaging and packaging components like Cans, Pumps, Actuators, Bottles, Tubes, Corrugates etc. and technical testing of the considered elements Have knowledge of the manufacturing techniques for packing consumer products Have good project management skills, ownership mentality, with strong results orientation and business acumen Be able to manage multiple projects, work crossfunctionally/internationally, and deliver against company business goals and objectives. Have excellent communication and presentation skills Have a proven delivery focus.
