Lowri Beck, part of the Calisen Group, is in an exciting and strong position now where we are seeing growth and development in all areas of the business, is looking for a Head of Technical Services and Safety to join and lead the Technical Services and SHEQteams.

The successful applicant will be responsible for setting and implementing relevant Technical and SHEQ standards within Lowri Beck's diverse operational field force, support functions and the wider Calisen business, monitoring the performance of theMeter Triage and Configuration section, and ensuring the suitability of Technical Specifications for existing and emerging metering and associated technologies being used/planned for use within the business.


In addition, the Head of Technical Services and Safety will also liaise with the Lowri Beck Training and Development Academy to ensure the suitability of training packages and industry qualifications for metering and associated technologies being used withinthe business, while ensuring that a suitable integrated/combined formal management system is maintained within Lowri Beck and other relevant areas of the business and that formal certifications are maintained in line with business requirements.


This is a permanent, full-time role working 37.5 hours per week Monday - Friday on a hybrid working basis, whereby you will work from home but requited to travel to the Wigan based office at least 2 days per week, occasional nationwide travel will also berequired.

The salary for the role is to be discussed between £59,500 - £70,500 per annum dependent on experience and qualifications/accreditations + car allowance.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that all metering installed is fully compliant with and configured to required industry standards, legal and contractual obligations.
  • Liaise with the Head of Training to ensure that all meter fixing operatives are adequately trained, mentored, assessed, accredited, and authorised in line with company policy, industry requirements and meet contractual obligations.
  • Liaise with all relevant business Heads to assist in the development and delivery of all appropriate Technical Reviews and Improvement Plans, including annual HSEQ Action Plans.
  • Oversee the monitoring and recording of all relevant accidents, incidents, complaints, and claims, triggering relevant continuity actions in the event of a serious incident. Commission and approve supporting Technical Investigations and Panel of Inquiryreports and ensure all necessary statutory reporting is completed.
  • Monitor relevant technical related industry and legislative changes (including horizon scanning in adjacencies) and ensure that business opportunities and/or compliance requirements are communicated and acted on in an effective way by the relevant stakeholdersacross the business.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of a suitable management systems manual and all associated supporting documentation, ensuring that it is available to all relevant users.
  • Develop, improve, and maintain a robust business continuity plan relating to Technical Services department sites and processes.
  • Work with other industry contacts and leads to identify, develop, and deliver Industry best practice.

What we are looking for

  • Formal qualification in gas or electrical engineering/installation (Level 3 Diploma minimum with membership of a suitable professional institution).
  • Formal H&S Qualification (NEBOSH general certificate minimum).
  • Driving licence that enables you to drive in the UK with a maximum of 3 points.
  • Extensive experience of Team Management (including senior direct reports, wider teams, and crossfunctional project teams), ensuring that skill sets develop in line with business need and that adequate succession planning is in place.
  • Wide experience of providing appropriate plain language technical reports and routine performance management reports, analysing and using data to express ideas and concepts in an approachable way.
  • Significant experience of providing high quality communications to diverse and geographically spread user groups, using up to date channels and methods.
  • Practical experience of lobbying, advising, or responding to industry groups, regulators, internal auditors, etc. on technical standards, quality, safety, or environment including using questionnaires and working parties.
  • Practical experience of supporting business tenders and business development processes including responding to questionnaires and audits undertaken by prospective clients.
  • Ability to challenge effectively/professionally/diplomatically at all levels of the organisation/partner organisation.
  • Computer literate with ability to operate Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to travel and work in other business locations as required in support of the business objectives.
  • Independent and selfmotivated, capable of managing own time and prioritising workload to meet deadlines.
