The British Cardiovascular Society (BCS) is a membership organisation with charitable status.
The BCS plays a pivotal role in the setting of clinical and professional standards within the field of cardiology and, through a variety of activities, influences the quality of cardiology practice in the UK.
It has a broad education portfolio, contributes to specialist training (and examinations), and has increasing involvement in research activities.***The BCS works in partnership with a large number of Affiliated Societies which focus on different fields of cardiology. It provides administrative, digital, and membership services including payment collections for a number of these societies.
The
Head of Finance is responsible for providing leadership to the BCS's finance and accounting strategy and functions and for the smooth running and operations of the Finance department This includes responsibility for all aspects of financial reporting, planning, and strategy across the organisation, including legislative compliance and best financial practice.
The post holder will have overall responsibility for both financial and management accounts, including financial reporting systems, and will take a fundamental role in the organisation's change management programme and risk management.
***Working with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Head of Finance will also take a lead role in the management of resources at the BCS to support business needs and requirements. This will include estates matters and strategy.***The post holder will be responsible for a Finance Officer and will work closely with the CEO and Vice President (VP) for Finance and Corporate Development and the BCS Finance Committee to develop and implement the BCS Finance and Business strategy
We are looking for a
Head of Finance to take the lead for the financial performance management of the organisation, managing the function operationally, strategically and in relationships with stakeholders, including management of our Finance Officer.
- Overall responsibility for the development and successful delivery of the Finance function and providing successful leadership across the organisation;
- Leading on financial planning and developing projections and business models in line with the Strategic Plan;
- Communicating complex financial information and influencing and building rapport with a range of internal and external stakeholders;
- Leading the design, implementation and review of systems, processes and procedures;
- Producing the Trustee's Annual Report and Financial Statements; reporting to the Finance Committee and the Board of Trustees;
- Managing the Finance Officer
