About your new role


We are recruiting for an experienced Principal Associate or Associate to work within the Insolvency and Recoveries team, to enhance our growing recoveries and insolvency offering in Scotland.


  • Proactively manage a broad range of disputed and undisputed money only and asset recovery cases on behalf of a wide range of clients, working independently and assisting other fee earners in more complex cases;
  • Provide supervision and guidance tojunior members of the team;
  • Undertaking creditor instigated insolvency actions against individual and/or businesses;
  • Managing and developing client relationships;
  • Assist with the onboarding of new clients to the firm, designing processes and procedures to ensure a cost effective and first class service is provided at all times;
  • Create workflows and precedents to increase profitability and automation across the department;
  • Perform asset tracing on target entities / individuals
  • Complete MI procedures as required
  • Achieve set targets/KPIs
  • Ensure relevant deadlines, compliance and quality measures are adhered to
  • Comply with relevant Weightmans and client policies and procedures
  • Work in accordance with Weightmans' values

About You


You will be a qualified solicitor, 3-8 year PQE, and you will have prior experience of debt recovery and insolvency cases.

As the role is varied, we are looking for you to have a flexible approach to the work you do and be able to adapt to different tasks.


We also require you to have/be:

  • Excellent knowledge of the Court of Session and Sheriff Court rules;
  • Motivated and highlydriven;
  • Ability to work to deadlines / targets, to prioritise and manage a caseload and deliver effective solutions;
  • Ability to work well as part of a team, providing supervision and guidance to junior members;
  • A commercial, solutiondriven and clientfocused approach;
  • Strong legal and analytical skills with an eye for detail;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent IT skills;
  • Passionate about growth, generating work opportunities both internally and externally
