Joining the Wisbech Port Authority Marine Services team, this exciting opportunity will see

you working with the team to further enhance and expand on the Port Authority's Statutory service.

You will take a leading role in the operational management of the Wisbech Harbour Authority and assist / deputise for the Harbour Master as required.

Tasks include organising and regulating everything relating to the Port Marine Safety Code, managing safety meetings, organising training and exercises and running inspections and enquiries into marine accidents and incidents.

You will manage the safe movement of vessels within the Harbour limits and ensure documentation and certification is in line with the Port Marine Safety Code.

Other duties include tug towing, dredging, bed levelling, buoy laying, maintenance of navigational aids, search and rescue and patrols, towing of leisure craft and hydrographic surveying, so a background of working in commercial craft maintenance and repair and sound seagoing experience is essential.

Local knowledge of the waters of the Wash is highly desirable. You will be 'On Call' for Emergency response when required.

Experience on smaller vessels such as tugs/dredgers would be desirable, but not essential as in the medium term full training to Pilot Authorisation will be offered.

You will need to have the ability to work flexibly including unsociable hours and weekends on a rostered basis. This is a small, dedicated team where a flexible approach to working is essential.
