Job Title:
SEND Learning Support Assistant - 1:1 Support


Location:
Ashford, Kent


Salary:
Competitive Daily Rate and Fexible Earning through PAYE


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to students with SEND, adapting teaching and learning strategies to meet their individual needs.
  • Assist students with academic tasks, including reading, writing, and numeracy, as well as other areas of the curriculum.
  • Support students with emotional and behavioral difficulties, helping them to develop coping strategies and manage their emotions.
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers and SENCOs to implement individualized support plans and monitor student progress.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, building trust and rapport to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Assist with the implementation of sensory and communication strategies to support students with sensory processing disorders or communication difficulties.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and feedback, communicating effectively with parents and other stakeholders as required.

Requirements:


  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND, either in a school setting or other relevant environment.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special educational needs or a related field are desirable but not essential.
  • Understanding of different SEND conditions and the impact they may have on learning and development.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to supporting vulnerable students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and respond to challenging situations effectively.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
