£31,258.85 per annum


HOURS: 40 per week, Saturday - Wednesday working pattern

Days Road depot, Bristol

Household Recycling and Reuse Centre Team Leader


Purpose of the role:


As Chargehand you will direct and control daily operations of the Household Reuse and Recycling Centre (HRRC) involving efficient receipt and segregation for recycling, loading and transfer of waste.


Working with a great team, the role allows you to build relationships internally and with external suppliers, and offers great training and development opportunities.

Key responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for the efficient operation of the HRRC, ensuring all necessary resource in the form of employees, plant and vehicles and that they are available on site and correctly employed
  • Ensure the safe, efficient loading and transfer of waste/recyclable materials from HRRC depot to final disposal points
  • Develop and maintain good customer relations, respond to customer enquiries, advising customers on correct procedures and deal with incorrect depositing of waste
  • Ensure compliance with safe working practices and maintain safe working conditions for employees, contractors and customers

Essential Requirements for the role:


  • Demonstrable ability to effectively direct an operational team
  • Experience of dealing with a wide range of colleagues and customers
  • Experience or ability to demonstrate suitability for physical work involving lifting up to 25kg
  • Ability to gain LGV Class II licence and ability to drive/operate a range of mobile plant, equipment and vehicles
  • Willingness to be work flexibly and adapt to changing roles in order to meet operational requirements
  • Demonstrable understanding of health and safety and other associated relevant legislation
  • UK Drivers Licence
