Job Title - Education Officer - Young People Team


Contract Type - Permanent


Working Hours - Full-time (37.5 hours per week)


Location - London - Clapham / Hybrid working (minimum 2 days in the office)


Salary Details - £25,200 - £31,500 FTE dependent on skills and experience


Full-time allowance of 36 days holiday (including bank holidays and 3 further days between Christmas and New Year.) Flexible annual leave available.

Flexible working hours policy (with company core office hours.) Generous 10% employer pension contribution after probationary period. Enhanced maternity and paternity pay after 2 years' service.

We empower people to build the skills, knowledge, attitudes and behaviours to make the most of their money throughout their lives; helping them achieve their goals and live a happier, more positive life as a result.


81% of young people feel anxious about money and finance, an increase of 14% on last year (LIBF, _[1]_and only
44% of those aged 11-17 feel confident managing their money (MaPS, 2019)_[2]_. With the current cost of living crisis, young people are in need of understanding their money now more than ever. Would you like to help us empower young people to make the most of their money and use it to help them get what they want out of life?


Each year, we reach around 20,000 young people through the delivery of our Financial Education Money Workshops in schools and colleges across the UK, and in 2023, we hope to dramatically increase this.

The Workshops are interactive, engaging and relevant, covering topics including budgeting, saving, borrowing, insurance, uni money and much more. Young people love having the chance to talk about money, ask questions and think about what they are going to do with theirs


We are looking to recruit a member of staff to help carry out the day-to-day management of the Workshops, as well as deliver our Workshops to young people in schools, colleges and the community.

The applicant will play a pivotal role in ensuring The Money Charity's Financial Education work is carried out efficiently to the best standards and the role will provide a varied and interesting opportunity for development.

We are looking for somebody with the drive and initiative to take this area of work forward. The applicant should have fantastic presentational skills, enjoy speaking to groups and be confident in a classroom environment.

They should have excellent interpersonal skills and be confident in developing relationships with a range of stakeholders_._ They should have enthusiasm for helping young people meet their potential as well as the charity's aims and objectives.

The applicant must be able to work under pressure, deliver tasks to an agreed timescale and have the ability to manage their own workload, as well as working as part of a team.


This role will provide an excellent opportunity for the applicant to manage the delivery of Workshops with a wide and national reach, whilst having the opportunity to input in developing this area of the charity's work.


Role Description

  • Responsible for coordinating the charity's Financial Education Money Workshops, including liaising with schools, consultants and volunteers on requirements
  • Delivering training and Workshops in London and further afield
  • Supporting the management of a team of regional training Consultants, including evaluation, performance management and induction/annual refresher training
  • Managing relationships with relevant stakeholders and partners including, but not limited to, teachers, volunteers and other charity workers
  • Promoting and marketing Workshops to schools and other relevant organisations
  • Managing databases and compiling MI and evaluation information and reports as necessary
  • Updating and designing Workshop content and resources
  • Assisting with piloting the delivery of Workshops to new audiences and age groups
  • Working towards the charity's strategic aims
  • Representing The Money Charity at events and meetings as necessary
  • Staying informed of new research and policy in the area of Financial Education and highlighting key developments to other staff members when relevant
  • Taking responsibility for other relevant pieces of work as appropriate
  • Participating in the corporate life of The Money Charity
  • Taking initiative to help the charity expand and develop this area of work

Applicant Requirements

Essential:

  • Excellent interpersonal, communications and relationship management skills
  • Excellent presentational skills and an ability to present in a confident and creative manner
  • Ability to work with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent organisational skills; able to work independently, managing their own workload effectively and working under pressure
