    Senior Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics

    The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is a busy unit with 13 gynaecology beds and 23 obstetric beds, achieving approximately 3000 deliveries per year.

    This department offers an extensive range of specialty services including infertility, urogynaecology, colposcopy, outpatient hysteroscopy/cystoscopy, advanced minimal access surgery and ultrasound scanning. We also provide joint diabetic/endocrine clinics as well as recurrent miscarriage clinics.

    We are staffed by consultants with substantial experience within the field along with two specialty doctors to support them. There are eight specialist registrars at ST3 level or above working alongside junior doctors undertaking training under close supervision.


    Main duties of the role


    1. The successful candidate will have completed their specialist training (CCT) and be seeking further experience prior to applying for a consultant post. This position involves attending various departments such as labour ward where they work under close guidance from consultants before gradually taking charge on independent tasks while providing day-to-day management assistance when required.

      The rota commitment may involve shifts during weekdays alongside being available overnight ready to assist if needed without direct oversight initially though this responsibility may increase over time once skillset growth has occurred subsequently allowing increased autonomy levels yet still reporting up through necessary channels ensuring consistency across all functions performed here.
