Since the Children and Families Act was introduced in 2014 there have been significant changes to the statutory responsibilities to improve the outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) from the ages of 0-25.


This post provides a point of contact for local authorities, schools and colleges seeking health advice on children and young people (C&YP) who have been identified as having a disability and when specialist health advice is required.

Has oversight to ensure that requests for assessment, planning and health support are clinically led.

Provides assurance to the Trust that the performance targets are being met and of communication pathways and onward progression of work.

Oversee the SEND referral and EHC plan clinical procedures. Responsible for overseeing the co-ordination and facilitation of the response to SEND requests in a timely and high quality manner and act as a point of contact for enquiries relating to Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan where clinical or data
- related advice is required.
