Based on the outskirts of Cambridge, Pretoria Energy is an ambitious, growing, renewable energy supplier at the cutting edge of investment, research and the production of carbon-neutral energy.


Weare seeking an experienced and competent Plant Operator to become an integral member of a new and developing pre-treatment facility which is nearing the end of the construction phase.

The role is integral to continued business growth and development of specialist pre-treatment technologies. A typical shift will be varied and engaging, at the forefront of feedstock production.

The role will have a direct impact on the biogas potential of our anaerobic digestion facilities and therefore our vision of providing carbon-neutral green energy.

This particular role is based in Mepal, North Cambridgeshire.


Roles and Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Production Manager, as a Plant Operator, you will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring pre-treated straw parameters, then adjusting production lines accordingly to achieve the optimum quality of feedstock
  • Controlling both manual and computerised systems in order to achieve the desired output
  • Adhering to strict health & safety standards reporting any incident or near miss
  • Following safe working procedures when performing maintenance on production lines
  • Daily stock controlling to maintain appropriate supplies liaising with the production manager
  • Any other duties necessary to ensure optimal facility production

Skills and qualifications:


  • A minimum of 1 years experience in a similar role
  • Good working knowledge of production line maintenance
  • Rough Terrain Telehandler License is desirable

  • Flexibility to work both indoors and outdoors, this role will require you to be physically active all year round
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail for accurate record keeping
  • Motivated attitude with a willingness to learn
  • Living or willing to relocate within a 60minute commute of PE16 6XA
  • Entitlement to work in the UK

Salary and Package:


  • 4 days on/4 days off, 4 nights on/4 nights off shift pattern
  • 12 hour shift patterns (06:00 18:00, 18:006:00)
  • 20 days annual leave and public holidays
  • Statutory workplace pension
  • Additional overtime available
  • Salary: £27,000 £30,000 per annum depending on experience
More than one position available for this role.

As part of the interview process, you will attend a face-to-face interview plus a site tour with the Production Manager.
