The Curriculum Lead in Childcare and Health & Social Care will coordinate the planning and delivery of high-quality teaching, learning and assessment, progress and attainment for students who are studying level 2 and 3 BTEC Health and Social Care and the level 2 Childcare Transition program.

Having the ability drive continuous curriculum improvement, and to inspire our students to achieve their potential and shaping the future generation of our learners.


The role will also include teaching across the Childcare and Health & Social Care courses, this role may also teach on the T level provision.


OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB:


To co-ordinate and lead on high quality delivery of teaching and learning, progress and attainment across an allocated cohort of students in your allocated area (c students).


Day to day coordination of the delivery of the relevant curriculum in line with the College's overall strategy, whilst driving the development of new and existing provision, improving the effectiveness of resources, developing effective team and industry relationships as well as achieving Further Education (FE) outcomes.


Bishop Burton College includes the Riseholme College campus and the postholder may be required to carry out duties at both campuses.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Role model and create a culture which embodies behaviours aligned to the college's values
  • To manage the delivery and quality assurance across a range of courses or groups, leading the delivery team (made up of lecturers, personal development coaches, instructors and in some cases technicians) to ensure timely completion of activities related to the planning and quality cycle, including:
  • Internal verification/exams
  • Preparing for external verification, liaising with HoD or CAM
  • Contribution to timetabling
  • To ensure the delivery team provide regular assessment, feedback, student progress reporting, marking of examinations and the appropriate management and supervision of student educational visit programmes are in place.
  • To plan, prepare and deliver high quality teaching learning and assessment in line with departmental requirements for c.680 taught hours per year.
  • To ensure that the delivery team record in an accurate and timely manner data and information, including registers, withdrawals, transfers, assessments, examination results and student progress for the programme allocated.
  • Lead on the management and maintenance of student morale and discipline, working closely with college manager and the delivery team to assure an appropriate learning environment.
  • Work with the HoD or CAM to contribute to Quality Assurance processes in college, including Annual Course Monitoring and Self
- assessment.

  • Take an active role in college marketing activities including providing advice and guidance to students, and lead/participate in promotional events.
  • To develop existing and initiate new curriculum development with college managers/course teams.
  • To embrace new learning technologies and implement the same within the programmes allocated.
  • In conjunction with college managers set, monitor and be accountable for targets in relation to recruitment, enrolment, retention, achievement, attendance and other teaching and learning outcomes. Ensure appropriate monitoring arrangements are in place for tracking progress of student cohorts.
  • Take on a 'champion' role to provide expertise and leadership on a particular strand of work in line with the college's strategic aims and departmental/directorate requirements, for example; sustainability, equality diversity and inclusion, digital, teaching learning and assessment across the area.
  • Work with the HoD/CAM to contribute to the performance development reviews of the delivery team on allocated programmes, lead on informal performance management processes.
  • Advise the HoD/CAM on the identification and prioritisation of curriculum resources to meet students' needs
  • Ensure effective contact with students, employers, validating bodies, external verifiers/examiners.
  • Contribute to a sensitive and supportive approach to equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • To perform such other duties as reasonably correspond to the general character of the post and are commensurate with its level of responsibility.
  • Take part in all staff College events such as Spring Live and Town & County Day.
  • Work with staff to develop employer portfolio and secure meaningful work placement opportunities for students under your provision
