Description
Brighton Lions Housing Society Ltd is a registered provider of social housing.

The society is over seen by a committee of volunteers and run on a daily basis by a small team from our Hove site, two office staff and a dog with a premises officer out and about maintaining, cleaning and monitoring our sites.


All our properties are purpose built 1 and 2 bed independent living flats for mature people within our community, Our properties are set on 4 sites across Brighton and Hove, with a total of 136 flats.

As a small housing provider the role of Housing Officer will be varied and ever evolving.

We are looking for someone with proven housing or lettings experience with a willingness to work across all aspects of housing.


  • Interviewing housing applicants and showing vacant properties.
  • Reference collection and collation.
  • Policy and Housing Law Implementation & review.
  • Liaising with contractors regarding faults, repairs, maintenance and refurbishments.
  • Monitoring and booking routine servicing and compliance checks.
  • Manage the end of tenancy process.
  • Collecting laundry money from all site on a monthly basis
  • Regular site visits and inspections, transport is not provided.
  • Issuing Section 13 rent increase notices and the calculation of annual service charges
  • No Job description can cover every issue which may arise within the job at various times and the job holder is expected to carry out other duties from time to time, which are broadly consistent with those described.

Key Skills

  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office and SAGE
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and practices
  • Ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Transport is required, insured for business mileage. All business miles are funded.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in housing with an understanding of housing management and law
  • Super organised and methodical in your approach to work with a "can do" attitude
  • Ability to work as part of a team but appreciate that this is a role where you'll spend some time working alone.

Pay:
From £17.00 per hour


Expected hours:
No less than 18 per week
