This position is based within Instron's European Warehouse Department and will be located at our European headquarters in High Wycombe, UK.


Job Description:


This job description is intended as a general statement of the nature and level of work performed by the job holder.

It is not intended to be an exhausted representation of all responsibilities, duties and skills.


This role is responsible for the safe distribution of material from the receiving function to delivery to 'Point Of Use', or Finished Stock location, and all associated administration.

Also, the packing and dispatch (vehicle loading) of sales orders, including machines, accessories and repairs, ensuring 'form, fit and function' checks are carried out.


To provide a timely and effective material supply distribution and service to all departments at the High Wycombe site in respect of the receipt and delivery to 'Point of Use' or Central Stores location of purchased parts and the receipt and delivery to 'Point of Use' or Central Stores location of made-in-house parts.


  • To provide safe and correct methods for the processes of product distribution, product location, product protection, product identification, product handling, for both Central Stores and Line side stock.
  • To ensure the safe operation and certified use of material handling and packing equipment i.e. reach trucks, overhead cranes, forklift trucks etc.
  • To recognise and deal with hazards and hazardous materials and awareness of COSHH regulations and abide by them.
  • To set and maintain high standards in Goods-In, Central Stores, Manufacturing test, assembly and processing areas, and Packing / Dispatch by maintaining a tidy, clean and safe environment, adopting safe working practices, being vigilant with stock accuracy through unpacking, sample checks, cycle counting and comparing new receipts to existing stocks. To provide care, protection and security of stock (where necessary)
  • To process products, components and materials by efficiently locating, kitting, pulling, and relocating.
  • To fulfill customer requirements and expectations both internal & external and by supporting any investigations by use of the production of drawings using AGILE. Also noting and communicating any inaccuracies to Supervisor / Line Manager and using IFS to trace stock and make corrections.
  • To provide an effective support service for the packing and shipment of all products, in respect of appropriate packaging to ensure safe transportation, accurate identification of crates, meeting International Shipping standards and customer requirements and familiarisation with all relevant shipment control documentation.

Qualifications:

No formal qualification required although must be safe and knowledgeable in the use of lifting, handling, and packing equipment.


Key Competencies & Experiences:

  • Experience of working in a warehouse and/or stock control environment
  • Familiarisation with stock control and material handling methods.
  • Safe and knowledgeable in the use of lifting, handling, and packing equipment.
  • Good basic level of PC literacy Good basic numeracy skills
  • Well organised and has a methodical & disciplined approach to following procedures
  • An effective communicator who works well as part of a team and independently using own initiative
  • Able to work to strict timescales and remain calm under pressure
  • Is reliable and can be flexible on working hours, willing to work overtime to meet the needs of the business
  • A 'cando' attitude when faced with challenges
