The Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences (NDCN) is looking for a professional, friendly and customer-focused

Finance Officer to join our busy departmental finance team that supports our world leading researchers and students. The Finance Officer plays a key role processing a range of financial transactions relating to Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Expense claims accurately and in a timely manner.


Working closely with the other members of the finance team you will promote and maintain a customer-focussed, high-quality service, and ensure all financial transactions are processed and recorded accurately and in line with university financial controls.

It is important that you are able to work well with others and communicate effectively with a wide range of people.

In addition, you will need to possess initiative, the ability to work to deadlines and to maintain a high level of attention to detail given the duties involved.


Some of the responsibilities include:

  • Responding to a range of enquiries, providing specialist advice and guidance on financial procedures, systems and policies to staff at various levels.
  • Processing a range of financial transactions, including purchase orders, accounts payable invoices, accounts receivable invoices, expense claims, and student/visitor payments
  • Processing journals for recharges and corrections between grants/GL accounts.
  • Ensuring all financial transactions are carried out in accordance with the University and external financial regulations and accurate and complete accounting records are maintained for audit purposes.

This post is permanent and full time, although part-time (minimum 0.8FTE) will be considered.
