The starting salary for this position is £31,273 per annum based on a 36-hour working week.

This position is offered as a 12-month fixed term contract or secondment opportunity.


Surrey County Council is seeking to recruit a motivated
Public Health Programme Support Officer to support the implementation of Surrey's Making Every Contact Count (MECC) programme.


The Public Health team in Surrey is forward-looking with a strong focus on improving the health and wellbeing of our county's population and reducing health inequalities, which is a strong focus of the Health and Wellbeing Strategy.


About the Role


As a
Programme Support Officeryou will support the coordination and delivery of our MECC Train the Trainer programme which aims to upskill staff across Surrey to cascade MECC training within their organisations.

Ensuring the programme isdelivered according to the project scope and timeline to participants from our various partners (including NHS, borough and district councils, and voluntary organisations).

You will evaluate training to ensure it is meeting key performance indicators & support regular contract review meetings with the training provider, working with them to identify and resolve and issues regarding training delivery


Additionally, you will help grow the network by Supporting the Public Health team to establish and coordinate a MECC Trainers Network for staff who complete the training programme, participating in MECC South East Network meetings & completing the 'Trainthe Trainer' course and delivering training to Surrey County Council staff and key stakeholder organisations as part of the role.


  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Public Health, health improvement and/or community engagement/development
  • Proven problemsolving skills, and the ability to work autonomously/independently and exercise initiative to devise and implement workable solutions
  • Ability to monitor and advise on budget expenditure in line with organisational policies and procedures
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills and an ability to empathise with people's personal situations
  • Proven experience in running online and/or facetoface groupwork/training sessions
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of IT business systems (e.g Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams)
