The Opportunity
Our Customer Operations Team are committed to keeping our customers safe and warm.

Looking after the gas pipes to 11 million homes and businesses throughout the UK, they quite literally keep the energy flowing.


As a Network Supervisor you'll be accountable for the supervision of emergency and repair activities within a geographical area of our North West Gas Distribution network, ensuring these activities are carried out safely and efficiently.

You'll also providevisible front-line engagement with field engineers, customers and key stakeholders to deliver the Cadent vision and culture. You'll champion Cadent priorities of safety, compliance, customer, performance excellence and efficient workload delivery.

Key accountabilities of our Network Supervisor will also include:

  • Embedding a culture of Continuous Improvement within a team through the use of Performance Excellence, implementing of visual performance management and problem-solving techniques
  • Supervising an effective and highly motivated regional workforce, delivering yearonyear cost efficiencies and improvements in productivity and resource utilisation whilst maintaining worldclass operational excellence, safety, and customer satisfaction
  • Carrying out workplace inspections to demonstrate compliance with the required standards/company procedures for dealing with Public Reported Escapes, Repair and Replace activities
  • Ensuring individuals comply with policy and work procedures and achieve company standards of service throughout all activities
  • Authorising and preparing perimetry requirements in accordance with Safe control of Operations procedures
  • Holding both Authorising Engineer and Competent Person status as required
  • Managing sickness/absenteeism and lowlevel disciplinary procedures for direct reports, to ensure compliance with company policy
  • Acting as the public face of Cadent when responding to complaints and enquiries where required.
  • Ensuring data recording and accuracy within the relevant network is appropriate and complete to support accurate management and regulatory reporting
  • Monitoring workforce operational performance to ensure all objectives are met and that problems are anticipated and resolved. Implement Performance Improvement Plans where required
  • Accountable for onsite incident supervision and investigation in adherence with EM72 and EM77 procedures in response to reports requiring escalation. i.e. Fire, Explosion, Suspected CO poisoning, Evacuation
  • Sharing, promoting and implementing technical and procedural best practice
  • Ensuring works are in full compliance with NRSWA and developing high performing relationships with the Local Authority streetworks team
Please note this role will also include standby duties.

Desired qualification requirements include:


  • HNC / NVQ or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
  • City & Guilds SNVQ 6012 Emergency Service Operations competence certificate.
