Role objectives

  • Ensure service delivery provides and maintains statutory, mandatory and routine compliance at all times and this compliance can always be readily evidenced in connection with Fire Safety (active and passive fire precautions.
  • Undertake produce fire reports and fire related inspections and audits.
  • Develop and maintain a process of continual improvement through efficiency, added value and best in class delivery.
  • Positively contribute towards account performance in terms of revenue, profit and cash.
  • Provide technical support to the works teams.
  • Develop relationships with Trust users and Mitie engineers.
  • Ensure contractual compliance with the PFI contract terms and conditions, making sure all contractual elements of the service delivery are consistently provided, whilst also achieving the commercial aspirations of Mitie and the client the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV).

Main duties

  • Ensure consistent delivery of the fire related safety systems (active and passive).
  • Provide technical support to works teams.
  • Manage specialist sub contractors respect of fire safety related maintenance.
  • Provide reports on status of statutory/ mandatory compliance activities.
  • Support the Line Manager with recharging of Building Fire related costs. Services delivery to deliver the services within the set budget and improve profitability evidenced by monthly review with, and agreed by, the Finance Business Partner (FBP).
  • Support Line Manager in all commercial aspects of the Building Fire safety services ensuring statutory and contract compliance evidenced by no Health and Safety Executive (HSE) notices or financial penalties applied for planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Ensure assets work properly, are maintained in accordance with the contract, relevant Health Technical Memoranda (HTM), Health Building Memoranda (HBM), Operation and Maintenance Manuals (O&M), and Manufacturer's Instructions; and maintained in a good state of repair, evidenced by accurate and complete equipment repair and maintenance CAFM records.
  • Coordinate with the Designated Persons (DP) and Authorising Engineer (AE) to make sure all necessary Approved Persons (AP), Competent Persons (CP), are appointed evidenced by signed letters of appointment recorded on Mitie's Learning Hub by Learning & Development (L&D). Ensure all APs and CPs carry out timely training to maintain competencies.
  • Use all available information and systems to ensure all Subordinates are fully productive (operatives to achieve 95% productivity of their available working hours to be evidenced on the CAFM system through correct usage of PDA).
  • Positively contribute to the achievement of Mitie's employee engagement target scores and achievement of people metrics evidenced by new joiner retention, minimised agency workers, and minimised overtime or unplanned absence.
  • Attend regular meetings internally and externally to review all aspects of service delivery as directed by management. Ensure meetings notes are taken, recording all actions with a due date and owner. Complete all personal actions, and ensure Subordinates complete assigned actions, in a timely manner.
  • Deal with any escalations, including client complaints or concerns or safety issues, raised for the Building Fabric Services team and support your peers as they require to resolve all issues promptly.
  • Review and propose recommendations to improve productivity and the efficiency of set routines and work schedules with your line manager.
  • Ensure effective Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) are used for all Building Fabric services works carried out by Mitie employees or subcontractors as evidenced by documented, readily available RAMS.
  • Manage subcontractors in accordance with Mitie Policy and Procedures.
  • Perform related duties as assigned, within your scope of practice. All employees who work in the Estates department are expected to cover for each other during holidays, leave or absences.

Person Specification

  • PFI experience advantageous
  • Leads by example
  • Preferably have experience and qualifications respect of Fire Safety in dwellings and buildings.
  • Highly motivated and driven by social responsibility to achieve the highest levels of delivery in a healthcare environment
  • Confident, with the ability to work under pressure in a calm and positive way
  • Excellent people and communication skills with the ability to express your thoughts clearly, whether written or spoken
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Excellent IT skills: Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • A dedicated team player with an enthusiastic personality
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with strong attention to detail. Comfort in a job in which there are never enough hours in the day, and the ability to prioritise the use of your time to maximum effect.
