Thorngate Churcher Trust runs a prestigious registered care home, specialising in the delivery of high-quality care for older people and those living with dementia.


We are searching for Senior Care Assistants to join our team to help residents enjoy each day by delivering the high-quality care and support they deserve.

You should have a genuine interest in people and the delivery of safe and effective care and in making a positive contribution to helping the home continue to be a welcoming environment for the residents to live in.


Key responsibilities:


  • Residents' welfare and care
  • The supervision of junior staff
  • Management of Russell Churcher Court in the absence of the registered manager and/or care managerPromote and encourage the individuality, independence, selfrespect and dignity of residents
  • Encourage and assist residents to participate in decisions concerning planning of their care
  • Ensure all care given is based upon the individual care assessment for each resident and that the care plan is administered to the highest standard
  • Maintain accurate and informative daily records for all residents
  • Maintain accurate and uptodate care plans, reviewing them regularly with particular regard to the emotional, physical, social and spiritual needs of the resident
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with residents' relatives, as well as with outside organisations and professional colleagues
  • Undertake general observation and accurate reporting, both verbal and written, of residents' physical, emotional, social progress or deterioration
  • Involvement, where appropriate, in resident reviews
  • Checking residents regularly throughout the night, ensuring their wellbeing and safety
  • Ensure the safe storage, documentation and administration of medication is carried out in accordance with current guidelines and training
  • Ensure full compliance with all Health and Safety regulations, including those relating to cleaning materials within COSHH Regulations 199
  • Inform promptly the manager of any serious illness, accident or defect within the premises and complete the appropriate records
  • This role requires a level of IT knowledge and experience, using electronic care plans and relevant software

What we need from you:


  • You will ideally be qualified at least at Care Certificate and or NVQ level 1/2 in Health and Social Care and have an uptodate training record for the delivery of care the meets the specified regulatory requirements.
  • You will ideally have a cando attitude, be selfsufficient, able to work on your own initiative and have high professional standards for the delivery of care for the residents.
  • You will ideally have a strong personal and professional set of values that help you perform your work compassionately, safely and effectively.
