The role:


The MyWorld Business Partnerships Lead is a key business-facing development role within a multi-disciplinary team based at the University of Bristol.

The role will build and manage productive relationships between the MyWorld programme and industry, in the UK and internationally.

The focus is on delivering long term economic outcomes in the West of England region through strategic partnerships across the creative / technology sectors, from content producers to technology platforms.


The role occupies a pivotal position matching the capacity and opportunity of MyWorld to the strategic needs of commercial industry, identifying and securing productive partnerships with key businesses (both local and global) and targeting activity to deliver impact.


What will you be doing?:


All MyWorld roles are varied and challenging, with great opportunities to shape delivery and have a real impact on the success of the programme.

The Business Partnerships Lead will focus on three core areas;

  • Working with the Head of Business Partnerships & Inward Investment and collaborating with business facing colleagues from MyWorld consortium partners, you will drive the formation and management of strategic relationships with industry, investors, commissioners and publishers, with a view to leveraging the MyWorld grant funding to raise additional investment into the West of England region's creative sector organisations and infrastructure. The role includes cultivation of a strong, active network of creative industry business relationships to enable effective cross referral of opportunities to MyWorld programme partners, and to external business support offers where relevant.
  • You will lead the coordination of the business facing individuals across the MyWorld consortium partners to ensure that business facing activity is joined up across the programme and delivered consistently and to a high quality, ensuring value add to the recipient organisations at all times.
  • You will take ownership of the MyWorld offers / value propositions to businesses, closely collaborating with consortium partners to ensure that the offers remain additional to existing regional and national business support, are adding genuine business value, and are supportive of MyWorld's overall programme aims and KPIs.

Success in the role will look like:

  • Consistent and high quality presentation of the MyWorld, and wider West of England, opportunity to industry regionally, nationally and internationally.
  • The attraction of external business investment to the MyWorld programme and in support of the growth of the regional creative / technology businesses
  • Positive engagement of West of England companies in support of their R&D and growth plans, from startups to established corporates.
  • Productively connecting across the sector to build sustained collaborative relationships
  • Demonstrable and measurable impact on inward investment and employment growth
MyWorld is looking for a proven professional with experience in business partnerships and business development or sales.


You will need current knowledge of the creative industries landscape in the UK, including market leading production approaches plus future technology roadmaps to inform targeted partnership development.


You will have a demonstrable track record in business development, revenue generation and/or raising project investment relevant to the creative sector through partnerships activity.


You will be comfortable representing the MyWorld programme credibly and confidently in both board room level presentations and business facing events.


You will have made significant contributions to targeted strategy development and implementation - able to show initiative, and to lead and direct activity as required.

You will be a confident and effective collaborator in multi-organisational project teams.
