About the role:
We are seeking a forward-thinking Print Production Coordinator to join our team.
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the provision of printed materials through both internal print production and external supply chains.
You will work closely with customers, colleagues, and suppliers to ensure the smooth coordination and procurement of print materials, while also prioritising aspects such as scheduling, quality, delivery, and logistics.
Principal accountabilities:
- To liaise and meet with customers in negotiating & confirming print work specifications, deadlines, specific requirements, delivery and space requirements.
- To be responsible for the fulfilment, maintenance and development of internal print estimating and ordering workflows.
- To provide advice and guidance with regards to the economy and practicality of print for both copier & digital output.
- To manage the scheduling and assignment of print work to appropriate production and supply workflows.
- To supervise print production staff to accurately and efficiently control and plan the flow of work through Print Services.
- To prioritise individual jobs within the unit enabling the best use of available production resources.
- To be responsible for the maintenance of current and accurate scheduling of all internal and external work within Print Services.
- To be responsible for ensuring all consumables for Print are ordered and stock levels are maintained to facilitate efficient production and /or service delivery.
- To work with the Print Services Supervisor in developing services that complement the departments offer.
- To work with the Print Services Supervisor to monitor and report on processes through appropriate KPIs.
- To accurately and efficiently coordinate supply of work through external suppliers.
- To oversee key supplier relationships on our print framework. Progressing innovative industry knowledge, coordinating complex print projects from press passes to deliveries, and overseeing supplier installations of building and display graphics. Includes
regular UK travel for onsite visits with our suppliers. - To monitor the performance of external print suppliers and ensure SLAs are met on quality and delivery of print work through to customers.
- To maintain and develop productive working relationships with all suppliers in pursuance of best value procurement for the University.
- To ensure levels of good timekeeping, good behaviours and safe working practices are maintained in all areas of Print Services, complying with the University's Health & Safety Policy.
- To undertake all relevant training pursuant to the role in line with the University's mandatory training, including manual handling training.
- To work flexibly across all areas of print production and Estates as required.
Person specification:
Essential Criteria:
Qualifications:
- Grades C equivalent or above in GCSE English & Maths
Experience:
- Experience within a Print related background, either lithographical, digital or large format.
- Experience in a print estimating environment
- Demonstrable experience of team leadership and supervision
Skills, knowledge & abilities:
- Scheduling and planning skills with strong ability to prioritise multiple workloads
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to talk varied issues through across all levels of the organisation
Business requirements:
- Some evening and weekend work as required for supporting businesscritical events
- Full UK Driving License
Desirable Criteria:
Qualifications:
- Qualification in Print industry skills
- Customer service qualification
- Project management
Experience:
- Working in a Print related role with knowledge of mail shots and Post.
Skills, knowledge and abilities:
- Developing teams and conducting development and performance reviews
- Health and Safety training, risk assessment creation
- IT skills with use of print and/or post related software
- Ability to produce reports on production and service levels for customers and KPI reporting
- Able to produce simple business cases for the updating and replacement of equipment
