Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Officer to join our finance team.

The Payroll Officer will be responsible for accurately processing and managing payroll for employees, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies.

This role requires a strong understanding of payroll processes, tax laws, and labor regulations.

The Payroll Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing and providing support to employees regarding payroll-related inquiries.


Responsibilities:


Payroll Processing:
Collect, verify, and input employee data for payroll processing, including hours worked, salary changes, bonuses, and deductions.
Calculate and process payroll accurately and in a timely manner.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations, labor laws, and company policies in payroll processing.
Review and validate payroll output for accuracy and resolve any discrepancies or errors.
Process and distribute payroll reports, payslips, and related documents.

Payroll Administration:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee payroll records, including personal information, tax details, and employment contracts.
Stay updated on changes in payroll regulations, tax rates, and labor laws.
Assist in the preparation and submission of statutory reports and payments, such as tax filings and social security contributions.
Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure accurate and timely processing of employee benefits, deductions, and reimbursements.
Process and distribute year-end tax forms (e.g., W-2, T4) to employees.

Payroll Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure compliance with applicable payroll laws, regulations, and internal controls.
Prepare payroll-related reports, such as payroll summaries, tax reports, and labor cost analysis.
Assist in audits and provide required documentation and reports.
Collaborate with finance and HR teams to reconcile payroll-related accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll information.

Employee Support:
Respond to employee inquiries and provide accurate and timely information regarding payroll, deductions, and benefits.
Assist employees with payroll-related issues, such as tax withholdings, direct deposit setup, and wage garnishments.
Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate employee data and resolve any payroll-related discrepancies.
Provide training and support to employees on self-service payroll systems.

Process Improvement and System Maintenance:
Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement enhancements to streamline payroll processes and increase efficiency.
Collaborate with IT and HR teams to maintain and update payroll systems and software.
Participate in payroll system upgrades and testing.
Ensure proper backup and security of payroll data.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Payroll Officer or in a similar payroll processing role.
  • Strong understanding of payroll principles, tax laws, and labor regulations.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and MS Excel.
  • Familiarity with HRIS and timekeeping systems.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in payroll processing.
  • Knowledge of payroll compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Knowledge of multistate or international payroll is a plus.
  • Professional certifications in payroll administration (e.g., CPP) are desirable.

Salary:
£23,689.15-£42,606.41 per year
