Working Full Time: 37.5 Hours Per Week


This role is designed to support in the delivery of a safe, kind and patient centered service across all areas of the Radiology Department under the guidance of the Registered Radiographer or Nurse.

The Radiology Department operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day and there will be a requirement to participate in out of hours cover.


You will also have a responsibility to assist and guide Band 2 Radiology Support Workers and Student Radiographers in appropriate situations.


This role will involve providing cover to services across the sites at Chester, Elsmere port, and the Community Ultrasound Hubs.

While predominately patient facing and focused the role includes an element of clerical and administrative duties.


Under supervision and direction of the Registered Radiographer/Nurse assist in delivery of the safe high quality care to patients in all areas of Radiology.

To carry out clerical and administrative duties in the department as required.

  • At the direction of the Registered Radiographer/Nurse participate fully in the delivery of planned care in all areas of the department including evening and weekend sessions.
  • Assist with general procedures, preparing trolleys for sterile procedures under the supervision of the registered Radiographer/Nurse, responsible for cleaning or disposing of equipment following procedures
  • Assist in all areas of the department under the supervision of the registered Radiographer/ Nurse or the Senior support workers. This includes completing safety screening of patients and staff in MRI, supervising the CT waiting area to ensure patients are prepared correctly filling the infusion pump and completing the initial check of the contrast agent.
  • Report any concerns regarding patient care

timely support via the Trust's Occupational Health and Wellbeing department

  • All employees of the Trust have the responsibility to comply with the Trusts infection prevention and Control policies and procedures at all times. Strict adherence to hand hygiene is essential


The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust consists of a 600 bedded large District General Hospital, which provides its services on the Countess of Chester Health Park, and a 64 bedded Intermediate Care Service at Ellesmere Port Hospital.
