Job Description - Senior Till and Customer Service Assistant - Full time - 40 hours per week including alternate weekend working.


JOB TITLE:
Senior Till and Customer Service Assistant


PURPOSE OF JOB:

We are seeking a friendly and motivated individual to join our team as a Senior Till and Customer Service Assistant.

We are looking for someone with an energetic personality who is highly motivated and able to greet and help customers, exceeding their needs and delivering outstanding customer service at all times.

The position is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for assisting with the smooth and efficient process of customer purchases.

You will be required to cover the Till and Customer service Manager in their absence picking up some of their key responsibilities and duties to ensure the day to day running to the department continues.


RESPONSIBLE TO:
Till and Customer Service Manager


SKILLS:
Solid communication and interpersonal skills. Friendly, helpful, confident and engaging personality. Organised and able to work at a fast pace.

Be able to remain patient, calm and polite in difficult situations
Problem solving skills and the able to think strategically
Be accurate and pay attention to detail, even when under pressure
Good numeracy and computer skills
Leadership skills, proactive in driving and motivating a team

The Customer

  • Advising and assisting customers to find the goods and products they are looking for.
  • Greet and acknowledge every customer.
  • Being able to provide exemplary and friendly till and customer service to all our customers engaging openly with a positive cando attitude, providing a fast and reliable service.
  • Promote and talk confidently about the Diamond Club membership and enrol customers.
  • Forwarding serious issues and complaints to the Till and Customer Service Manager or the ability to deal with complaints in their absence.
  • Conducting customer transactions, being responsible for processing cash and card payments.
  • Know how to use basic systems, equipment and other tools for the job to meet the needs of the customer.
  • Reporting discrepancies and problems to the Till and Customer Service Manager or dealing with them in their absence.
  • Help investigate and resolve customer issues.
  • Assist the Till and Customer service Manager in the running of the tills and customer service desk.

The Team

  • To support the Till and Customer Service Manager when required or in other departments.
  • Ensure your personal presentation, in all communication reflects positively on the business.
  • Responsible for security within the store and being on the lookout for shoplifters and fraudulent credit cards etc.
  • Working effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, sharing knowledge and experience with others in order to support them.
  • Cover the role of the Till and Customer Service Manager in their absence ensuring all aspects of the role are covered.
Financial Analysis - To support or in the absence of the Till and Customer Service Manager

  • Daily, weekly and monthly reports must be analysed and actioned promptly, resolving any discrepancies duties include:
  • Review cash and banking reconciliation.
  • Review Refund analysis.
  • Manage system price accuracy.
  • Analyse and interpret system generated financial reports.
Management Duties - To support or in the absence of the Till and Customer Service Manager

  • Train and support till and customer service assistants.
  • Recruit and manage performance of team if requested to by Till and Customer Service
Manager.

  • Support the creation of weekly rotas ensuring adequate staffing.
The Product, Presentation and Place

  • Help ensure shop floor standards are maintained throughout the garden centre.
  • Working within established guidelines.
  • Attaching price tags to merchandise on the shop floor.
  • Keeping up to date with special promotions.
  • Assisting with store deliveries. Stocking shelves with merchandise if requested to by
Manager.

  • To achieve high levels of personal productivity and pace, getting things done quickly, efficiently and to a high standard.
Stock management

  • Following correct processes and procedures when completing transactions through the tills, ensuring that all products are scanned individually by using the relevant barcodes.
  • Reporting any items that are incorrectly priced or where the barcode may not be recognised on the till.
  • Ensuring any damaged stock is put to one side to be placed with the items to be written off by a manager.
Health & Safety

  • To ensure completion of all elearning modules on health and safety in the work place.
  • Fully understanding your responsibilities and to ensure best practice at all times.
