Teaching Assistant/1-1 Support: Pay Grade H2 (£ £21575 full time salary - Pro Rata £14,013 - £14,526)
Hours 8:30 - 3:30 Term time only (38 weeks)
Job Title:
Teaching Assistant/1-1 Support - Fixed Term (July 2024)
Purpose of the role:
To work with teachers to support teaching and learning, providing general and specific assistance to pupils and staff, under the direction, guidance and supervision of the classroom teacher.
To support teaching and learning of an SEND pupil to help overcome barriers such as multiple learning difficulties and/or behavioural, social, communication, sensory or physical disabilities.
Actively model and promote the values and ethos of the school.Responsibilities:
- Work with individuals or small groups of pupils in the classroom under the direct supervision of teaching staff and provide feedback to the teacher
- Support pupils to understand instructions, support independent learning and inclusion of all pupils
- Support the teacher in positive behaviour management and keeping pupils on task
- Support pupils in social and emotional wellbeing
- Prepare and clear up learning environment and resources, including photocopying, filing and the display and presentation of pupils' work and contribute to a safe environment
This role may also include some or all of the following:
- Administer medication in accordance with an agreed plan under direction of healthcare practitioner and following appropriate training
- Update pupil records
- Assist with escorting pupils on educational visits
- Support pupils in using basic ICT
- Undertake moving and handling activities as required.
- Midday supervisor cover
Knowledge and Skills Competencies
Essential Communication (written and verbal)
- Problem Solving
- GCSE grade C/4 or above in English and Maths Team working
- Previous experience of working with children Motivation within a professional setting Monitoring
- Good knowledge of social, emotional, mental Sensitivity health issues Resilience
- An awareness and understanding of ASD, ADHD and Attachment
- Basic knowledge of computing
- Basic knowledge of Health, wellbeing and safety
- Knowledge of child protection procedures
- Awareness of keeping children safe
- Awareness of Data protection and confidentiality
- Understanding of the Schools ethos and values
Desirable
- An understanding of play based approaches to children's learning and development
- Previous experience of working with children with SEND
- Experience of intervention programmes
- Basic knowledge of First Aid
