The Role:


A manufacturing business supplying globally based in East Yorkshire are looking for an efficient and driven Junior Buyer to join their team for an exciting opportunity where they will have the chance to learn, develop their talent in an international growing business.

As a Junior Buyer, you will play a key role within the Supply Chain Department who will be responsible for the following:

Key main activities and areas of focus for the
Junior Buyer Role:

  • Working with a supply base for procuring production and non-production materials
  • Tier 2 supplier management (Both UK and Overseas)
  • Expediting of relevant supply base orders
  • Raising of ad hoc orders
  • Amendment of orders where necessary
  • Ensuring price lists are accurate and up to date
  • Creation of KPI's and reports, ensuring accuracy and delivered on time
  • Updating & issuing of Supplier Performance KPI measures monitoring quality, cost, delivery, service for monthly meetings
  • Gathering of Supplier Information and entering on internal systems
  • Support Procurement Team in administrative tasks
  • Work with other stakeholders in the business with Non-Conformance Reports (NCR's)
  • Contribution and attendance in meetings where required representing the Supply Chain Department. Updates on price, lead time and associated costs
  • Working with the Operations team on stocking of consumables and packaging

Other Elements / Tasks:


  • Develop effective relationships. Promote collaborative working. Interface internally with departments, internal stakeholders, Engineering, Sales, Stores, Warehouse & Finance etc as appropriate.
  • Develop close working partnerships with Suppliers
  • Support Cross Functional Teamwork.
  • Dealing with questions from suppliers, internal staff members as well as the warehouse, managing their expectations and assisting in finding a resolution that suits all stakeholders
  • Other appropriate duties as may be required from time to time, including deputise for other team members as and when required.

Key personal attributes:


  • Previous experience in a Supply Chain
  • A strong understanding of End to End Supply Chain
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong Excel skills competent with Pivot Tables, formulas etc
  • Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office
  • Resourceful and proactive attitude
  • Natural problem solver
  • Thrives on working in a fastpaced environment and able to meet deadlines
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Driven and passionate about delivering a consistently high standard of service to the business and external suppliers
  • Good organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work within crossfunctional team and colocated team(s).

Qualifications and experience:


  • Minimum of 1 years' experience in a Supply Chain environment
  • Computer Literate detailed working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and good working knowledge of ERP/MRP Systems preferable.
  • Good level of general education (e.g., 5 GCSE passes or equivalent, including English and Mathematics).
  • Degree level education preferable/level of experience in a Supply Chain environment+
  • Excellent communication skills
  • An eye for detail and ability to multitask
  • Driving License
