Imperial College London in partnership with the University of Cumbria are working together to launch an exciting new project to set up a new graduate entry Medical school based in Carlisle.

Imperial's medical school is one of the best in the world and this partnership aims to unite that strength with the University of Cumbria's expertise in the education of nurses, midwives, and allied health professionals to improve the region's access to world-class clinical care.

The new school, which aims to enrol its first students in autumn 2025, will train medical staff for Cumbria and North West England to transform healthcare in local communities.


Now our thriving recruitment team is looking for a knowledgeable and experienced recruitment specialist to take on a crucial role to support this exciting new development.


Responsible for delivering an excellent end-to-end recruitment service to a demanding clientele, you will join a dedicated and supportive team who operate at the heart of a global top ten university with a pivotal role in public life nationally and internationally.


In this varied, fast paced, and exciting role, you will need to pragmatically support our Hiring Managers to attract and recruit outstanding people for our new site that we are developing in collaboration with Cumbria University.


Equally important you will be mindful of the need for the continuous improvement of our services and work with other HR teams to deliver these developments.

Duties and responsibilities:


  • Supporting hiring managers through all stage of the recruitment process being mindful of employment law and our values.
  • Liaising with hiring managers and the Compliance team to ensure the relevant paperwork for all new employees is issued in a timely manner.
  • Managing the recruitment process in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Collaborating with the Recruitment team and wider HR teams.
  • Acting as an ambassador for the Imperial College London employer brand and our recruitment team.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.

Essential requirements:


  • Experience in a similar position in the NHS or healthcare organisation needs to match your personal specification
  • A sound grasp of recruitment solutions and relevant employment legislation
  • Experience of delivering a recruitment service that is passionate about meeting the needs of your customer
  • To be skilled in influencing and managing the expectations of hiring managers but recognising their needs
  • Experience of producing relevant recruitment paperwork e.g. contracts, offers, etc.
  • To adapt quickly to changing priorities and workloads and prioritise multiple tasks accordingly
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of using an ATS and ensuring 100% system accuracy

Further information:

This is a two-year fixed-term contract position. We work on a hybrid basis - two days per week based on the South Kensington Campus. This position will require regular travel to Carlisle (at least twice a month).
