Description

We are looking for enthusiastic, passionate, qualified and experienced Early Years Practitioners to join our expanding team on a full time or part time basis.


We have 3 full time positions across our 3 settings, commencing in January 2024 due to the growth of our nursery.


Working Hours are between 8am - 4.30pm Monday - Thursday and 8am - 1pm Friday with once a month a staff training session running on a Friday afternoon.

Position could be full time or part time.

Team Torridon currently has 22 talented individuals with a wide range of skills and experience.

As an organisation we value and priorities staff training and look to promote and develop our existing staff team, with many of our now seniors or Managers joining us as Practitioners.


Starting Salary for Qualified Early Years Practitioners is £13 per hour and there is opportunities for professional development and moving on to more senior positions within the team.


Early Years Practitioners (Key Worker) - Job Roles and Responsibilities

Early Years Practitioner - (Key Worker) -


Qualified and experienced Early Years Practitioners who have the skills, knowledge and experience in child development and early years practice to take on role of Key Worker.


  • To promote children's development by providing a balance of purposeful play, planned learning opportunities and free play indoors and outdoors.
  • To provide a safe, secure, caring, nurturing and inclusive service
  • This includes set up and preparation of environment and learning experiences, risk assessments, planning etc.
  • To provide positive, nurturing interactions and support to all children.
  • To develop positive relationships with families and be initial point of contact for Key Children's Parents responding to any queries, maintaining regular contact, termly phone calls to provide feedback on child's progress and update Personal Plans & Chronologies.
  • Liaising with and having professional (and at times sensitive) conversations with parents and outside agencies to ensure the needs of key children are met,
  • Responsible for monitoring and tracking children's progress by
  • Writing quality observations that evidence learning and progression
  • Completing children's Progressions and reports identifying targets for learning
  • Where appropriate create LPS / Support Plans for children with an additional need.
  • Intentional Planning for Spaces, Experiences, and Interactions to meet targets
  • Evaluating children's learning and progress and planning next steps
  • Planning to meet individualised and key groups needs using Curriculum for Excellence, Birth to Three and Realising the Ambition,
  • Administering Medication in line with Medication Policy
  • Using Personal Plan to support child and plan around interests.
  • Responsible for recording any welfare concerns and engaging with agencies to support family.
  • Contribute to Quality Assurance's
  • Development Plans, SIP, Sharing Best Practice, Parent Feedback, Snapshot Observations, Training Evaluations, Team Meetings to evaluate practice.
  • Provide mentoring and supervision to Students on Placement.
  • Be responsible for opening / closing of the service and completing safety checks.
  • General Administrative Duties including general typing / computer tasks
  • Resource checks / ordering resources
  • Complete Daily texts to Parents and Facebook posts
  • Recording own personal training for SSSC / Logging own hours
All staff must follow TEG policies, best practice guidelines and SSSC Codes of Conduct.


Qualification Requirements - Early Years Practitioners -

  • Practitioners must hold a HNC, SVQ 3 or equivalent in Childcare, or be working towards their qualification (Staff will have a year to complete SVQ if applicable) and must have a PVG and be able to register with SSSC as a Practitioner of Children's Day Care Services._


Key workers must be able to work a
minimum of 7 sessions to provide continuity of care and support for the children, families, and team.

7 sessions (half days) equate to 2 full days and 3 half days or 3 full days and a half day.
