Job Description - Receptionist
Our busy practice is located in the market town of Harpenden and is one of three practices that make up Harpenden Health PCN.
Main Duties of the Job
- To book appointments using EMIS Web in accordance with the current surgery appointment policy
- To handle queries both in person and over the telephone according to protocol and signpost patients to the correct member of staff
- To maintain confidentiality and always show respect for patients and colleagues
- To use EMIS WEB, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, always ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
- To ensure with the other members of the reception team, that the reception area is always manned, and telephones are answered promptly
- To ensure the waiting area is kept tidy
- To take messages for clinicians and ensure these are added to EMIS Web messaging system without delay
- To undertake administrative and other tasks as requested by the Practice Manager or clinicians. To attend practice and staff meetings as required.
- To undertake mandatory training and comply with all surgery regulations and procedures
- To be aware of procedures to evacuate patients in case of an emergency
- To secure the building, setting the exit alarm when last to leave the premises
- To cover colleagues for holidays and sickness as required
Working pattern
Working pattern
Tuesdays 8.00am to 4.00pm
Thursdays 10.30am to 6.30pm
