The role:

  • To effectively manage the Exposure Management data and Management Information (MI) strategy delivering key data and process objectives that support the achievement of Exposure Management function objectives and broader strategic objectives within Aspen.
  • To manage and provide direction to others to deliver the agreed key objectives within the Exposure Management workstream and realise expected business benefits.

Key accountabilities:

Strategy and Planning - Contributes to the overarching data and Management Information strategic objectives as well as prioritising the operational deliverables and activities of the Exposure Management data and Management Information (MI) workstream.

- Actively contributes to the development, communication, and delivery of the vision for the Exposure Management data and MI workstream to all members, inclusive of instilling Aspen's Principles and Values across the business.

- Collaborate with stakeholders on the remediation work required across various data entities (to include but not limited to Underwriting,, Finance, Claims, and Actuarial) to achieve effective analytics and reporting for Exposure Management.

- Deliver knowledge transfer and training to end users in the implementation and ongoing use of MI dashboards.

- Actively contributes to the development and achievement of data integrity across Aspen globally Policy, Process and Procedures - Identify current inefficiencies to reporting processes with the intention of creating replication and/or automation of regular reporting.

- Deliver greater accuracy and efficiency in report production through the design and implementation of governance and control measures.

- Provide appropriate level of governance, as well as documentation/training material for the specific work being undertaken, in line with professional standards and/or Aspen specific standards and regulatory requirements - Provide expert technical / theoretical support across Aspen globally, as appropriate Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus - Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders to improve customer focus and to be the primary point contact for relevant business units in relation to the Underwriting data squad, especially underwriting leaders, product and portfolio heads, pricing, reserving, claims, and exposure management leaders.

- Network within Underwriting function, counterparts within data workstreams and Aspen colleagues globally to encourage the sharing and adopting of best practice.

- Actively participate in relevant internal and external meetings as required to develop and demonstrate knowledge of Aspen and its processes.

- Partner with the Group Chief Operating Officer and Group Head of Data Analytics in response to requests from the Change Board and Executive Committee, as required.

Technical Performance - Develop, maintain and validate exposure management systems, data, reporting and procedures to ensure that these are aligned with business needs and fit for purpose.

This is to include adopting efficient and consistent processes and/or technologies where appropriate, including forward-looking processes such as planning and strategic analysis.

- Produce integrated MI and insights to provide all relevant exposure and related data to management and underwriting teams so they can achieve their goal of data driven decision making - Review and challenge the status quo and present findings and solutions to relevant leaders.

- Find innovative ways to better use data and analytics to support more informed decision making across the underwriting community.

- Provide transparency of the ongoing Return on Investments your team will achieve through the delivery of analytics to your users.


Skills & experience:

  • Expert knowledge of the financial services industry best practice, focusing on (re)insurance.
  • knowledge and understanding of key insurance underwriting concepts, including underwriting exposures, both man-made and nat-cat.
  • Expert knowledge of data manipulation and data analytics.
  • Knowledge of operating in cross functional agile delivery environments blending technical and business knowledge to create value through tech and data within the business
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of company systems and how technology can be leveraged to improve performance
  • Ability to look long term while balancing immediate term underwriting realities
  • Ability to lead and manage through a team of senior professionals across a large and diverse entity
  • Ability to lead the development of strategy for the business
