We are looking for a
Business Policy Specialist to join our Business Process and Controls team on a
fixed term basis for 12 months.

You'll be based in our head office in Basingstoke, combining both office and home working to ensure a positive work / life balance.


The Role


Policies are a fundamental aspect of our organisations control environment and are critical to ensuring everyone knows what is expected of them to protect Sovereign's customers and employees, as well as ensuring the business operates in a responsible and compliant way.


In this new role, you'll play a key role in raising and maintaining Sovereign's standards across its policies, defining the standards for all our policies and setting the expectations of what good looks like.

You'll define and oversee the governance for ensuring policies are properly maintained and watch the external environment to help the business identify when we may need to create new policies.


Responsibilities include:

  • Building and driving forward with a plan to mature policy management across the business
  • Engaging and leveraging a network of policy stakeholders across the organisation to develop and embed Sovereigns business policy framework, policy artifacts and ownership
  • Supporting Policy Owners to draft, review, and cascade Policy documents in line with our policy standards
  • Building and maturing a repository of Policy related documentation and the review and change control needed to ensure these are maintained as the 'single source of truth' for Policy information
  • Researching and understanding the needs of the business, our customers and external stakeholders to play a key facilitation role in the development and setting of new policy and identifying changes to existing policies

What we're looking for
You'll have demonstrable experience in a similar role, with strong knowledge and expertise in policy development and implementation. Previous experience in Regulatory compliance and/or policy compliance is desirable.


You'll also have:

  • Knowledge of the requirements of the Social Housing Regulator
  • Experience of influencing and engaging at senior levels of an organisation
  • The ability to identify, understand and clearly explain policy, strategy and legislation development that impact an organisation's functions including its operational responsibilities
  • The ability to research, analyse, interpret, summarise and present complex information in a systematic and coherent way
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels
  • Strong documentation and record keeping skills
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure
  • Strong presentation skills and extensive workshop facilitation experience
  • Critical thinking and problemsolving skills
  • A clear communication style, both written and verbal
