About the role
Due to increased business growth, APEM's Data Operations Team are searching for an Aerial Survey Task Specialist to join us as we expand


The primary part of the role will be undertaking regular survey flights both onshore mapping projects and Offshore Digital Wildlife Surveys, using our state-of-the-art and current generation digital imaging systems, LiDAR system and other specialist's sensor equipment.


The role is very fast paced and dynamic, on a daily basis you will be required to assess the suitability of survey conditions against capture parameters, conduct pre-survey checks and preparing all equipment for your allocated missions.

You will be conducting system installations and ground testing prior to survey flights.

Inflight you will be motoring the survey system via the survey guidance software and conduct quality control on the data captured, along with downloading the flight data and survey logs post flight.

You will also be responsible for ensuring the safe storage of data in transit and finally completing post survey data handling and data delivery.

Full training will be provided, however prior knowledge or good transferable silk is highly desirable.

Flexibility is also required as due to weather restrictions and survey deadlines. The role does require time away from home & overnight stays until surveys are complete.

With staff working on a rotating roster to provide contuse cover over the whole week and will be on call during this time to cover any survey requirement that the company may have.

Required skills:


  • Desire to travel and a willingness to work away from home for periods of time, is Essential.
  • Excellent time management, task management and communication Skills, along with the ability to work as part of a team to achieve a common goal, is essential.
  • A keen attention to detail and the ability to deliver work to a high standard even while working to tight deadlines and encountering variable that might be beyond your control, is essential.
  • Comfortable with operating computer and survey equipment, the ability to troubleshoot system issues and resourcefulness in seeking solutions to problems.
  • Experience with GIS packages would be beneficial.
  • Experience with photo processing programs would be beneficial.
  • Current driving licence and have your own vehicle. (Due to the location of Chester office)
