Here is a fantastic opportunity to work with a prestigious academic organisation based in Manchester.

We are seeking to recruit a Regulatory Compliance Consultant to join their Compliance and Risk team on a permanent basis.

The role offers flexible working hours and adopts a hybrid working structure (location flexible). The role pays £33,309.00 per annum.


Overall purpose of the role


To be the key individual responsible for developing and managing systems for assurance and compliance in relation to various aspects of chemical usage, waste management, export controls, National Security and Investment Act and other key areas of compliance.

To provide a web content, e-learning development and project management support service to colleagues across Compliance & Risk.


A snapshot of some of your key responsibilities as RCC

  • To develop and manage systems for the assurance of compliance with the requirements of the Home Office and other government departments in relation to chemical use in research and teaching
  • To develop and manage systems for the assurance of compliance with the requirements of import regulations
  • To develop and manage systems for the assurance of compliance with the requirements of the Environment Agency, in relation to the preacceptance audit for biological waste management.
  • To carry out administrative functions in relation to licensing and consents
  • To develop and manage systems for the assurance of compliance with the requirements of export controls, particularly in relation to UK export regulations but also the USA (Export Administration Regulations and International Traffic in Arms Regulations).
  • Provide web content and elearning development expertise to enable Compliance & Risk colleagues to rapidly move from content to embedded web pages and training programmes.
  • Provide basic MS Project support to colleagues in order to support project management and planning.
  • Production of reports for the Research Compliance Committee as necessary.

Essential skills & qualifications

  • University degree and/or substantial university professional experience with complex admin processes.
  • Highly developed IT skills (inc. MS Project and web authoring)
  • Experience of briefing senior managers and reporting to senior staff/committees in an accurate and succinct manner
