The Cabinet Office is undergoing a significant digital & technology transformation.

Over the next three years we aspire to make UK Government digital services the best in the world, meeting or exceeding the benchmark set globally by the best public or private sector standards.

For us to meet this ambition we are aiming to further improve the conditions, processes and expertise we have in place to be set up for success.

This means we need to go much further and faster and strengthen the delivery of Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) in government.

To support these ambitions we have established the Cabinet Office Digital directorate for the Cabinet Office to build on existing strengths.

The Cabinet Office Digital directorate is based on six principles to:

  • Build trust by stabilising services and getting the basics right.
  • Be the gateway for all nonGDS digital, data and technology services delivered by Cabinet Office.
  • Provide impeccable service to our users
  • Drive digital, data and technology thought leadership
  • Transform ways of working
  • Build sustainable capabilities

As part of ensuring the Cabinet Office is a Great Place to Work, improving technology services within the Cabinet Office and improving how the Cabinet Office uses technology to interoperate with its partners across government, broader public sector and industry: Cabinet Office Digital has launched a broad transformation programme called 'Falcon'.

This role is a part of the Falcon programme, which aims to deliver across 2 workstreams over the next 2 years a modern, flexible, high quality and cost efficient official IT platform to all users across the Cabinet Office and its wider 43 organisations through migration away from the Google Workspace environment to an alternate platform.

The second workstream will develop a new modern, secure, and flexible official IT platform that meets the modern demands of the Cabinet Office.

Falcon is the Cabinet Office's priority digital programme.

The programme will work with two primary commercial technology partners, Microsoft and CapGemini to deliver each of these workstreams.

The Falcon team produces all the programmatics, steering the programme through the range of required assurance and approvals whilst coordinating overall activity between users, Cabinet Office Digital and the commercial partners.
