This role will be based in our Bellshill bakery on the outskirts of Scotland.

The Recipe


Working as part of our manufacturing management team and involved in both national and site strategy, you'll engage and motivate a large, skilled, Engineering team who are utilising root cause analysis to identify and prioritise corrective, preventative,predictive and mitigating actions.

A typically non-traditional engineering opportunity, we have a unique operation working with condition-based monitoring therefore ensuring our machines have the minimum levels of intrusion; we are looking for the minimum level of maintenance required toobtain reliability.

Our engineers are one step ahead of any possible breakdown.

As our Engineering Manager you'll be leading us on that journey.


Key Accountabilities and Measures

  • Support and manage site implementation of a businessled engineering reliability strategy
  • Identifies and leads the execution of sitebased capital projects involving new products and equipment
  • Ensures equipment is in place to both comply with food safety legislation and initiate any required action in a timely manner. Ensures the plant is safe to operate, is maintained and employees conform to health and safety legislation, policies and standards
  • Recruit, motivate and develop the engineering team to ensure they achieve the goals and targets agreed in their role profiles and performance review meetings.
  • Develop site revenue and capital budgets and manage expenditure to ensure that budget targets are achieved.

Essential Ingredients

  • Has received relevant structured and practical engineering training (e.g. apprenticeship/HNC/degree)
  • Knowledge and experience of engineering management in an FMCG environment
  • Experience of TPM and lean processes
  • An understanding of PLC Systems, SCADA & MES, with a background of both Electrical and Mechanical Engineering
  • Health & Safety, Food Safety systems and legislation knowledge e.g. PUWER, IOSH able to ensure a safe working environment
  • Driven by solutions with a positive approach, ideas and motivated by innovation
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities to drive quality, cost, reliability and safety performance
  • Uses an understanding of the cost base to improve efficiencies and profitability
  • Management of site engineering and CAPEX budgets
  • Develops strategy and longterm plans and objectives
  • Management and leadership skills, develops an exciting vision which inspires others to perform
  • Using a range of management styles to support the team performance
  • Adaptable style and able to build strong relationships with crossfunctional stakeholders, suppliers, project teams & our customers
