Krefta Kernow Domestic Abuse Outreach Project


The Women's Centre Cornwall (TWCC) is run by women, for women, and aims to empower and enable all women and girls to gain the health and well-being and confidence and skills to achieve their potential and become stronger and more independent.


Krefta Kernow (Strength Cornwall) is funded by Cornwall Council to provide support to people fleeing domestic abuse who cannot access safe accommodation.

TWCC and West Cornwall Women's Aid will provide gender-specific support to women, with Konnect delivering the men's service.


Women's Domestic Abuse Outreach Worker

Purpose
To provide holistic support for women fleeing domestic abuse who are not in safe accommodation.

In addition to providing support to secure and maintain safe accommodation, the service will deliver holistic support to address the impact of domestic abuse.

As an Outreach Worker you will hold a high level of aspiration for the women you are working with. You will support them to identify their strengths and achieve their goals.

You will empower them to access a broad range of services and support and to engage with their wider community.


Key Responsibilities:


Delivery of Support

  • Provide assertive outreach services to increase accessibility and engagement particularly from women who are street homeless, or at risk of being street homeless
  • Provide shortmedium term intensive support to a caseload of women
  • Complete a full assessment with each woman using a whole person, think family and traumainformed approach to develop a collaborative, strengthsbased action plan
  • Undertake a comprehensive risk assessment and develop a personal safety plan
  • Agree a communication plan with each woman to reduce retraumatisation
  • Imbed a collaborative exit plan at an early stage to support a positive moveon from the project
  • Provide emotional support and brief interventions to address the impact of domestic abuse and trauma and improve health and wellbeing
  • Provide referrals and advocacy support to help women access and engage with other services including housing, drug and alcohol, mental health, health and wellbeing and communitybased activities
  • Provide bespoke support to help women develop and increase their independent living skills
  • Support women to identify, access, secure and maintain safe accommodation
  • Work in collaboration with other services to ensure a holistic and consistent approach
  • Attend multiagency meetings where appropriate and to act as an advocate within prescribed protocols
  • Collect real time feedback
  • Respond promptly and proactively to all referrals
  • Ensure that all performance targets and standards are met

Partnership working

  • Contribute to developing relationships between our partner organisations
  • Contribute to maintaining up to date knowledge of services available and communicate this to women and professionals
  • Develop and maintain positive and mutually supportive stakeholder and networking relationships particularly with: housing providers, other outreach services, Social Services, substance misuse and health services
  • Adopt a support coordination approach, communicating and keeping all relevant parties informed of any issues, concerns and successes with particular attention to risk
  • To work with the Krefta Kernow Team and the wider TWCC Team to ensure the service delivers and maintains excellent standards

General

  • Work to The Women's Centre Cornwall's ethos and values
  • Be responsive to women's needs and utilise a traumainformed approach
  • Be aware of and work to confidentiality and information sharing protocols
  • Work from colocation and satellite sites within the service delivery area as appropriate
  • Be aware of, and work to Child and Adult Safeguarding principles, practice, and procedures
  • Attend monthly line management supervision, 6weekly external clinical supervision and regular Krefta Kernow team meetings, reflective practice sessions and peer support
  • Be responsible for own safety and others affected by your activities and to ensure adherence to TWCC policies and procedures regarding Health & Safety including lone working
  • Maintain and update clear and accurate written and computer records of case management
  • Utilise a range of qualitative and quantitative tools to monitor women's journey of progress
  • Attend relevant training and development events
  • Keep abreast of domestic and sexual abuse issues both locally and nationally
  • Perform any other duties as may be reasonably expected from you as directed by line management
